Bike the 14ers started out as the spark of an idea to do something we’d never tried. A single ride turned into another, and another. The little spark turned into a bigger idea. The idea turned into planning and tens of thousands of vertical feet of sweating, suffering, and spending time in the most beautiful places in the country later we have collected almost 28 million earned media impressions, a stack of clippings, thousands of followers, the cover of the Wall Street Journal and the opportunities to go take that little spark to Central America and to give back to those less fortunate in Nepal.
We had the strange opportunity to be in the spotlight and at the center of anonymous internet anger. We also received an overwhelming amount of stoke and support.
I’m going to write more summing up the whole project, it’s ups and downs and sharing beautiful imagery in a Bike Magazine feature later this summer when we finish our last two peaks. There’s a TON more work to be done but for now, we are happy to be enjoying the success we’ve found in following that little spark into the unknown.
We’re not done yet!
