This was from my sketchy little perch above “the line”, a secret-ish spot near Marble. Chris Davenport and Owen Leeper skied a beautiful couloir below my lens and good friend Daniel Kelly Brown shot motion from across valley. Such a magical spot. We got to watch storm cells form and swirl through the valleys and up the Crystal and then experience their grapple or silver dollar sized flakes as they passed over the mountain. We watched a group of goats meticulously make their way up an adjacent couloir. We booted up under a towering sheer wall and felt like part of the mountain. For me that’s a big part of why hut life and ski mountaineering is so good: you get to live amongst and travel through the elements and cycles of nature.
