Sailing through the Belizian Cayes was a navigational challenge. The British charts didn’t match the Local charts and nothing matched the GPS. With an abundance of coral heads we needed 2 spotters on the bow at almost all times. Challenges always make the adventure an adventure and make peaceful serene moments like this all the more impactful. This photo brings me right back to that place of peace. I can hear the sea sloshing against the hull, the main sheet slapping back at the wind, the turnbuckles creaking. I can feel the warm rays of afternoon sun on salty bare skin. Mostly I can feel the sense of calm, connection, and belonging of knowing you’re exactly where you should be.
